On Sunday August 30th, “EDDIE – COST OF GREATNESS”, the feature length documentary produced by 1577 Productions, and directed by Christopher Hunt made its national TV debut on ABC. Needless to say it was surreal seeing the movie on such a wide platform. 1577 Productions, along with its distribution partner Takashi Entertainment, initially premiered the film on ESPN in June of 2020. Executive Producer Chad Reineke of Takashi Entertainment said, “This is a film we will be proud the Takashi name is on 20 years from now. ABC is a BIG DEAL. It speaks to how broad of an audience the network thinks the film has.”
Audience and media reaction from around the country has been tremendous. ESPN writer Myron Medcalf called the film “one of the best sports documentaries he has ever seen.” After the ABC screening, Tulsa World writer Bill Haisten wrote on his twitter account, “EDDIE documentary is everything – uplifting, powerful and difficult to watch. Producers go from having a fund-raising campaign to now, this afternoon, getting an ABC window. This documentary deserves a documentary.”
The films future is not complete. 1577 Productions is in talks now with major distribution platforms so EDDIE will have a home for years to come. Stay tuned.
